Radio Manchester’s very own Allan Beswick visited the studio of Radio Wishing Well on Wednesday 16th January 2008.
Richard Parkinson invited Allan along for an interview after meeting him at the switching on of the Christmas tree lights outside the A&E entrance at Trafford general Hospital.
Allan spent well over two hours with us, chatting to members and then being interviwed on air for over an hour by Richard. Our thanks go to Allan for giving up his time to pay us a very memorable visit.

RWW 25th Birthday celebration

The evening of Thursday October 18th saw current volunteers and some past members along with senior trust managers and Patientline management celebrate RWW 25th birthday and 10 years in our current studio, the party being held in the hospitals restaurant.

With speeches from the station Chairman Richard Parkinson, Hughie Erskin our trust liaison officer and RWW member Bill Ball followed by a buffet and a music quiz with questions about music from the past 25 years. Allen Thorpe our longest serving member cut the bithday cake. Andrew from Patientline presented RWW with a plaque. Finishing off the evening guests were invited back to the studio to see the new play out equipment.

It was a great evening and our thanks go to all those that attended, here’s to the next 25 years!

Studio’s get a makeover

Studio 1
Studios 1 and 2 have undergone a makeover to accommodate the new Psquared Myriad playout system. This allows the station to compete with the output quality of commercial stations, as well as in the future broadcast 24 hours. Studio 1 was totally transformed with the need for a new desk and wooden boxes to be made for housing the new equipment. Dave Thompson (Studio Manager) spent weeks designing and constructing the new desk and boxes also manufacturing the steel brackets to support the box containing the mini disc player, twin CD players and monitor stand. A big thank you to Silverwood Grinding of Stockport for supplying the steel and use of the workshop.

Sunday 3rd June Paul, Dave and Ian set about unwiring all the studio equipment and clearing both studios, taking everything out of Studio 1 and only leaving the worktops in Studio 2. After lunch we started installing the new desk into Studio 1 then re fitting all the studio equipment in both studios and wiring it all up again, eventually installing the new computer equipment for the play out system into both studios. It was a very long day finishing the installation at 2.15am on the Monday so that broadcasting could take place that day.

Easter Sunday fund raiser

Amanda, tricky the rabbit, Paul and Bill selling rabbit names.

Easter Sunday RWW volunteers where positioned at one of the hospitals entrances raising funds for the station with name the rabbits. It was good fun, we also acted as escorts for some visitors new to the hospital helping them find the ward they wanted to attend, and in just over four hours of selling names we had used up all 150 names raising £75.00.
Our thanks go to all those that supported the raffle in picking a name.
The 1st rabbit was called Asher and the person picking the correct name was S Waring
The 2nd rabbit was called Scott and the person picking the correct name was P Renshaw.
Congratulations to you both!

Seb and Richard hard at work on stage at Highfield

The 23rd March saw the RWW road show at Highfield School for the kids Easter disco. After a few technical problems with the equipment, and the kind assistance of one of the kids parents the problem was resolved and the party got underway. The kids, parents and RWW volunteers had an enjoyable evening. The school kindly gave our Chairman Richard some Easter eggs to pass onto the childrens ward at Trafford General.
